The loss of 29 lives in the Pike River coalmine in Greymouth has stunned the whole country. All of us share a measure of the shock and sorrow of the miner’s families and the close-knit West Coast community. Throughout the week we watched and waited and hoped. Now we send our thoughts and prayers that each one involved will find comfort and strength in this sad time of bereavement.
