In today’s Dominion Post ‘Indulgence’ supplement, Sarah Catherall posed a very coach-like question: ‘If money was no object, what would your dream holiday be?’
Various celebs shared their idea of a dream holiday – ranging from a month on Waiheke Island relaxing with friends over home-made pizza and catching up on reading, to five years tootling around Morocco and Egypt with the odd side-trip to Europe for a spot of partying.
So - the coaching question is: ‘If money was no object what would your dream life be?’…
Would your life become one long holiday? Would you pursue your ideal career? Or maybe write that book you’ve been meaning to get around to? Would you spend your time indulging your every whim? Or maybe help out in a soup kitchen for the homeless?
Checking out a few online forums I found that most people when imagining this scenario would pay off debts; buy a house, a car and a new computer; and have a holiday. Not many looked further ahead or thought of making major changes to their lifestyle. Think about it. What would you do?
Your answer to the question is one way of linking in to your unfulfilled dreams for the life you really want to be living. If you could do anything you wanted – with money no object and a guarantee of success, how different would your life be?
How would you live out that life? How would it make you feel? Instead of focusing on what you don’t have, practice the feelings now. Live as if your life was already perfect … Live as if you were the person who already had that amazing life.
What aspects of your ‘Dream Life’ can you start to put into practice – how can you begin to find fulfilment for yourself?
